Odessa

…cigar smoke lusts across the square

from the teenage millionaire

across his blond stilettoed girl

across the aged General

intent upon his daily walk

medals blazoned on his chest

a clipped proud military gait

his eyes appraise the scene

he leaves unspoken in the smoke

‘Look what I did for my country’

the young man calls up caviar

commands his guarded limo wait

gives his glittering squeeze a squeeze -

texts aimlessly
