Dark

written after the Tunisian beach massacre June 2015

...chapel down, seek sacraments,

secular salvations, god weary rites.

the world is on a wild crusade tonight

blood spattered marble never cleans to white,

chandeliers saluting loving couples

explode in shattered light

waiters scouring empty tables freeze

the concierge on clockwork throws a grin

'Sir, Madam, please, please come again'

seek any sacraments, secular salvations,

god weary rites. sand shimmers in the darkness.

the world is on a wild crusade tonight
